Words Reveal

Sometimes words will find their way,

And other times, they drift or stay.

Like people, some are quick to share,

While others speak but rarely care.

We talk and talk, but what is said?

A loop of sound inside the head.

Too loud to hear, too fast to pause

We never stop to hear the cause.

If only we could sit and still,

And let the quiet shape the will

What kind of humans would we be,

If we could simply learn to see?

But yesterday, a shift took place

A moment filled with gentle grace.

A friend who listened—truly heard,

And met each thought with not a word.

The things I hide, the fears I own,

That often bloom when I’m alone…

Were spoken, not to be undone,

But just to touch the light, then run.

When words are trapped, they turn to weight,

Distorted truths we cultivate.

But said aloud, they lose their hold,

Some shrivel, others might unfold.

To listen takes a quiet might

To hold a space, to not be right.

And when we listen, not defend,

We meet ourselves, but mostly mend.
